Finance Department Summer Intern

The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for a temporary Intern position in the Finance Department. 

Primary duties include maintaining computerized fixed asset records including physical inventories and policy documentation.  Additional responsibilities may include assisting in the preparation of the Village's Comprehensive Annual Finance Report and interaction with the Village's external auditors during fieldwork.  Occasionally, this position could receive assignments in the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing Divisions. 

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, detail-orientated individual who is interested in gaining hands on experience and training in governmental accounting.  Applicant should possess or be in the process of obtaining a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or Business Administration and have completed two college level accounting courses.  Candidate should possess basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and be able to operate various office equipment.  Excellent oral and written skills are required.

Fire Administration Summer Help

The Village of Arlington Heights a northwest suburb of Chicago, population 76,943 is seeking temporary help in the Fire Department for the summer of 2008.  Responsibilities of this position include word processing, data entry, and miscellaneous other office duties.  Applicants should possess basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.  Salary DOQ.  Send resume to jobs@vah.com or The Village of Arlington Heights, Human Resources Department 33 S. Custodian - Public Works Department

The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of Custodian in the Public Works Department.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring Village buildings are cleaned and maintained with adequate supplies and ready for daily operation. 

Requirements include High School diploma or equivalent with 2 or more years experience in custodial work or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.  The work hours are 1:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional Requirement:  Valid Illinois Drivers License.

Minimum starting salary for this position is $38,391. Includes excellent benefits package.

Certified Police Officer

The Village of Arlington Heights population 76,943 has several openings for experienced Police Officers to complement our Police Department.  The Police Department has 113 Sworn Personnel.  Officers work a 6 day on and 3 day off schedule.  Top pay in 4 and ˝ years.
 

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or 60 semester hours of credit from an accredited institution.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes.

  • Pass medical exam including drug screening.

  • Previous status as a certified Police Officer in the State of Illinois for one year after completion of a probationary period.

  • Currently in good standing in the police department in which the person serves.

  • Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a Village of Arlington Heights Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the Village and,

  • Taken and passed such examinations as the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer.
