HEIGHTS FIRE ACADEMY
In 1973 the Fire Department opened the Arlington Heights Fire Academy.
Over 2,000 area firefighters
have received their basic firefighting training at the Arlington Heights
Training Academy.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Everyone can do something to help make
our families and community safe. The goal of our Emergency Management Agency
is to make Arlington Heights as prepared as possible to deal with the
effects of natural, manmade or technological emergencies or disasters.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE
All Arlington Heights firefighters are trained as Emergency
Medical Technicians. Fifty-one firefighters have received advanced training
and are licensed Paramedics prepared to deliver basic and advanced life
support services to the residents of the Village 24 hours a day.

EMERGENCY SERVICES DISASTER AGENCY (ESDA)
The Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) was formed to provide
local communities support during disasters or times of crisis.

FIRE PREVENTION
Four civilian fire inspectors work under the direction of the Village's
Building Department. They can be reached at 847.368.5560. Inspections and
reviews are done by the Building Department. The Fire Department is involved
on an operational level only.

HISTORY
The Village of Arlington Heights organized a volunteer Fire Department on
October 8, 1894 which had 40 members by the end of that year.

PUBLIC EDUCATION
Each year people of all ages die tragically from
fires which could have been prevented. Fire can occur at any time, day or
night.

Over 4,000 people die every year in residential fires in the United States.
Most fatal home fires occur between 8:00 P.M. and 8:00 A.M. while residents
are asleep.

There are four specialty teams within the
Fire department. They are the Fire Investigation Team; the Water
Rescue & Recovery/Dive Team; the Technical Rescue Specialist/TRS Team; and
the Hazardous Materials Response Team.
