Census Information

The Village’s growth and population has stabilized over the past 20 years as opportunities for annexation and development of vacant land is limited. According to the 2010 Census, the Village’s population is 75,101.

Historically the Village experienced tremendous growth in population in the 1950’s and 1960’s resulting from annexation and new development. In 1950, the Village borders reached to Thomas Street on the north and Central Road on the south, but by 1960 annexation extended our borders to Dundee Road on the north and I-90 on the south. By 1990, annexation extended the Village border to Lake Cook Road, as well as filling in other areas adjacent to the Village. Future development will be realized through redevelopment of areas consistent with the Village’s Comprehensive Plan.

The 2010 Census data provides detailed facts and figures about Arlington Heights and also includes information from updated surveys and estimates completed by the U.S. Census Bureau.
