1. To schedule an inspection, call Building Services at least 24 hours prior to the time you want the inspection to occur. For larger projects, call at least 48 hours in advance for inspections.
2. Your permit number is required in order to schedule an inspection.
3. Specific inspection times are not available. You may request A.M. (9-12) or P.M. (12-3) and we will try to accommodate your request.
4. Make sure that work to be inspected is complete before you call for the inspection (You will be charged a nominal fee for failed inspections, including projects which are not ready when the inspector arrives).
5. Make sure all final inspections have been approved before you make final payment to your contractor.
6. You must be ready for the inspection. The inspector (s) will not re-inspect your job on the same day. If you are not ready the first time, you will need to call the office and re-schedule for the following day and, if applicable pay a re-inspection fee (Payment of re-inspection fee (s) are for jobs where there is not a cash bond on file).
7. For concrete/asphalt/brick work, your permit covers one pre-pour and one final inspection by Building and Engineering. Additional inspection charges will be deducted from the bond on file. Approved pre-pour and final inspections are required for bond refund. If there is not a pre-pour inspection, your bond will be forfeited.
8. New structures to provide a 4x4 sign posted with the address of the property. Place the sign on front lawn visible from the street (Not parkway).
9. Approved plans to be available on site, no inspection will be performed without approved plans on site.

11. Work authorized by a permit must begin within six months from the date the permit was issued and must also be completed within one year. Work extending beyond these time frames requires approval by the Director of Building & Health Services. To obtain approval, fill out the
permit extension letter and submit to Building Services.
12. To receive a temporary or final Certificate of Occupancy, please submit the
request for occupancy form to Building Services after all final inspections. A certificate will be issued within 5 days after written application if the building at the time of application meets the requirements of issuance.
13. When calling for an inspection, please give a contact name and phone number and, if applicable, provide any other special information such as unit number, whether outside gate or door is open or whether unit or building address is displayed.
14. Be sure to schedule your final inspection.
