Permit Reviews
Building Services coordinates all interdepartmental permit reviews and plan reviews. Plan reviews verify that construction plans/drawings, proposed drawings for non-construction changes and all requested revisions are in compliance with building, electrical, fire-safety, plumbing, other building control system’s codes and Village design standards. Where necessary, consulting services such as structural engineers, fire protection services and elevator review/inspection services assist in reviews for assuring compliance.
The review time for most projects is approximately 2-3 weeks. Larger projects may require more review time, depending on the scope of work. For exceptions such as same day permits, please see appropriate checklists.
If there is a rejection by any reviewing department, a correction report will be mailed/faxed to the permit applicant after the plan has been reviewed by all reviewing departments.
All applications, including revisions, must be submitted to Building Services. Revisions may take an additional 2-3 weeks to process.
If the revision involves a change to the architectural drawing, a cover letter with the architect’s signature and seal describing the change is required, as well as three new sets of architecturally clouded drawings. If this involves changes to electrical and/or plumbing, a new electrical and/or plumbing permit application is also required.
