Nursing Services

The Village's two registered nurses provide skilled nursing services, under physicians' orders, for residents in their homes. They also provide health screening clinics for hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, and TB. They also manage the Village-wide influenza vaccination program, provide vision and hearing screenings in our parochial schools, and are involved in inspections of day care centers.

Nursing Services provides home visits to our homebound residents who do not qualify for Home Health Care.  The nursing staff visits 180-200 patients per month.  The monthly visits can include lab draws or anticoagulant checks via the Coaguchek machine.  Staff also will fill insulin syringes or pillboxes for those unable to do so themselves, administer injections, as well as make physical assessments for instability.  Referrals usually come from a home care agency, a doctor, family members, or the residents themselves. Occasionally a resident may need to be seen more often, but on a temporary basis only. When necessary, a referral is made to Home Health, Catholic Charities, or Kenneth Young for social service support.
