The Village's Human Resources Department issues all notices and publications for employment opportunities for the Village of Arlington Heights.  These opportunities include internships, seasonal/temporary work, as well as full and part-time employment.

CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN: ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The Village of Arlington Heights a northwest suburb of Chicago, population 75,101, is seeking Civil Engineering Interns in the Engineering Department for the summer of 2017. This position assists project engineers in design, field layout and construction inspection of roadway, sidewalk and utility improvements. Candidates must have completed at least one year in accredited engineering program.

PLANNING INTERN: PLANNING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The Village of Arlington Heights, a northwest suburb of Chicago with a population 75,100, is seeking an Intern in the Planning & Community Development Department for the summer of 2017. Applicants should possess or be in the process of obtaining a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field. Intern will work on a variety of projects including downtown redevelopment, code review, and other special studies as required. Applicant should possess computer skills in Microsoft Office and CAD.

Hourly rate for this temporary position is $12.50.

ON-CALL TEMPORARY REGISTERED NURSE: HEALTH SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of on-call temporary Registered Nurse to work on an on-call basis. Work hours may include weekends and Fourth of July. 

Strong immunization screening and vaccine administration skills required. First aid skills also necessary. Must be CPR certified. Candidate should possess strong communication skills. 

A valid State of Illinois license as a Registered Nurse as well as a valid Illinois driver’s license is required. 

Hourly rate for this temporary position is $23.00.

CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER
The Village of Arlington Heights population 75,101 is looking for certified applicants to complement our Police Department. The Police Department has 109 Sworn Personnel. Officers work a 6 day on and 3 day off schedule. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or 60 semester hours of credit from an accredited institution
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes
  • Pass medical exam including drug screening
  • Previous status as a certified Police Officer in the State of Illinois for one year after completion of a probationary period. Currently in good standing in the police department in which the person serves
  • Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a Village of Arlington Heights Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the Village, and taken and passed such examinations as the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer.
