The Village's Human Resources Department issues all notices and publications for employment opportunities for the Village of Arlington Heights.  These opportunities include internships, seasonal/temporary work, as well as full and part-time employment.

SOCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR: HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The Village of Arlington Heights, Illinois, is one of the largest Chicago suburbs with a population of 75,100. The Village is seeking a Social Services Coordinator in the Health & Human Services Department. Under general direction, this position is responsible for the delivery of social services to the general population as well as working closely with the Police and Fire Departments. Provides professional assistance, information, training, referral services including short-term assessments and counseling for individuals, families or groups.

Responsibilities include but not limited to, maintaining and expanding all current Human Services programs, developing collaborative working relationships with local social service providers and performs crisis intervention services. Additionally coordinates and supervises activities of the employees in the Social Services Division.

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Social Work or related field and 3 years of direct service experience in the field of social work and 1 year of supervisory experience. Bilingual, English/Spanish is preferable. Required licensures include Licensed Social Worker (LSW/LCSW) or related licensure equivalent through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Minimum starting salary is $82,296. Includes excellent benefits package.

MANAGEMENT ANALYST: POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Village of Arlington Heights, Illinois, is one of the largest Chicago suburbs with a population of 75,100. The Village is seeking a Management Analyst in the Police Department. Under general direction this position performs work of moderate difficulty in administrative, technical and fiscal transactions. The position requires independent judgment and analytical reasoning in performing responsibilities.

Conducts research and performs special administrative studies and systematic analysis for identifying and analyzing patterns. Performs a variety of financial duties including the maintenance and monitoring of departmental fund accounts. Additionally, coordinates reporting for annual budget preparation. May provide supervision or oversee staff as required.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree including courses in Accounting or Finance preferred. Two years of previous experience or equivalent. Proven skill in MS Office, specifically Excel and Access. Must have the ability to preserve the confidentiality of sensitive communication, work independently, and have strong verbal, written and analytical skills. Master’s degree preferred.

Qualified applicants may be required to complete a computerized test to create a baseline of skill level in Microsoft Excel and Access.

TEMPORARY FORESTRY INTERN: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The Village of Arlington Heights, a northwest suburb of Chicago, population 75,100 is seeking a temporary Forestry Intern in the Public Works Department. Applicants should be in the process of obtaining a degree in the field of Forestry, Forestry Management, Botany, Ecology or a related field. This position will require knowledge of tree identification and tree physiology.

Applicant must be able to work independently and outdoors for an extended period of time. Computer skills in Microsoft Office and ArcMap are a plus, but not required. Must be a minimum of 18 years old, ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to climb ladders, and operate power tools & equipment. Hours for this position will be scheduled between 6:00am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, $13.50 per hour. A valid Driver’s License is required. This position is temporary and will last until 12/31/2017 and will conclude on that date.

ON-CALL TEMPORARY REGISTERED NURSE: HEALTH SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of on-call temporary Registered Nurse to work on an on-call basis. Work hours may include weekends and Fourth of July. 

Strong immunization screening and vaccine administration skills required. First aid skills also necessary. Must be CPR certified. Candidate should possess strong communication skills. 

A valid State of Illinois license as a Registered Nurse as well as a valid Illinois driver’s license is required. 

Hourly rate for this temporary position is $23.00.

CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER
The Village of Arlington Heights population 75,101 is looking for certified applicants to complement our Police Department. The Police Department has 109 Sworn Personnel. Officers work a 6 day on and 3 day off schedule. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or 60 semester hours of credit from an accredited institution
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes
  • Pass medical exam including drug screening
  • Previous status as a certified Police Officer in the State of Illinois for one year after completion of a probationary period. Currently in good standing in the police department in which the person serves
  • Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a Village of Arlington Heights Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the Village, and taken and passed such examinations as the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer.
