International Society of Arboriculture
ISA is dynamic medium through which arborists around the world share their experience and knowledge for the benefit of society. ISA, aligned on many fronts with other green organizations, is working hard to foster a better understanding of trees and tree care through research and the education of professionals as well as global efforts to inform tree care consumers.
Eight of the Forestry Unit's employees are certified arborists though the International Society of Arboriculture.
Tree City USA
The Village of Arlington Heights has been recognized as a Tree City USA for the past 25 years. The Forestry Unit follows all guidelines required by Tree City USA and strongly support the ideals established by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The four standards that must be met to be considered for a Tree City USA designation are as follows:

- A Tree care ordinance
- A community forestry program with an annual budget with a minimum of $2.00 per capita
- An Arbor Day observance and proclamation
