About The Street Unit

The Street Unit is responsible for the oversight of 240 centerline miles of Village streets and right-of-way. The unit performs the following general duties:
  • Snow and ice control operations
  • Snow removal from the Downtown Business District
  • Snow removal from parking garages and parking lots
  • Repair and replace mailboxes damaged by snowplowing operations
  • Street pavement maintenance (pothole patching) in winter
  • Hot mix asphalt (HMA) repairs on streets and driveways due to utility repairs
  • Portland cement concrete (PCC) repairs on streets, curb, sidewalks and driveways due to utility repairs
  • Sidewalk grinding to alleviate trip hazards
  • Full and partial depth hot mix asphalt (HMA) repairs to asphalt
  • Full depth Portland cement concrete (PCC) repairs to concrete streets suffering from deterioration
  • Perform paver brick sidewalk maintenance
  • Street sweeping and leaf sweeping program
  • Daily maintenance, sweeping and cleaning of the four Municipal parking garages
  • Annual washdown of the four Municipal parking garages. other equipment repairs
  • Responsible for the removal of dead animals in the public Right-of-Way (R.O.W.)
  • Responsible for the delivery of barricades for street closures for block parties, parades, and running events
