Senior Center Awards
The Arlington Heights Senior Center won numerous awards during its first fifteen years as Park Place Senior Center. That fine tradition has continued as the Arlington Heights Senior Center received in 2008 the Association of Illinois Senior Centers’ Program of the Year and Director of the Year awards. The Village of Arlington Heights became the 2004 recipient of the Association of Illinois Senior Centers’ Visionary Program Award, 1998 recipient of the Governor's Hometown Award, First Place for Senior Citizen Involvement; honorable mention in the U.S. Conference of Mayor's and Waste Management's City Livability Awards in 1999; second place in the 1999 Modernization Award of "Buildings" magazine national competition; and first place in the 1998 American Public Works Association, Chicago Metropolitan Chapter for Project of the Year, Structures $2,000,000 to $10,000,000; the John J. Gunther Award for Blue Ribbon Practices in Housing and Community Development by the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and the State of Illinois Senate Recognition of the 90th General Assembly as well as a 1998 Resolution from the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
