1. FOCUS ON VILLAGE-WIDE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
1a. Monitor Business District Beautification Program
1b. Promote equitable modifications to Cook County real estate classifications to be more business friendly
1c. Attract large national stores
1d. Continue and refresh the comprehensive Marketing and Business Plan
1e. Encourage development of uniform retail hours Downtown, including evenings
1f. Increase and maintain business occupancy rate
(a) Continue and/or expand business attraction program, i.e. trade shows,
tax incentives, Arlington Economic Alliance
(b) Continue to identify and revitalize underperforming shopping areas
1g. Evaluate effectiveness of marketing brand and program
1h. Unify efforts of the Village, Chamber of Commerce & Economic Alliance
to develop coordinated efforts for business retention and development.

Commerce
2. DEVELOP EFFECTIVE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING
2a. Support and promote Star Line through its completion to relieve congestion
2b. Promote Route 53 extension
2c. Encourage greater use of mass transit and bicycles to alleviate traffic congestion
2d. Monitor FAA noise reduction initiatives
2e. Explore the possibility of developing local shuttle service for hotels,
Arlington Park, OTB, Downtown eateries, shopping and recreation areas
as well as job centers
2f. Monitor METRA and PACE to assure continued service and effectiveness
(a) Improve Metra communication and education to commuters
(b) Promote METRA services to people living outside Arlington Heights to fill
their shopping and recreational needs in Arlington Heights
3. BALANCE THE BUDGET
3a. Promote retention/attraction of car dealers
3b. Consider new revenue sources to ensure provision of essential services
3c. Continually evaluate cost and allocation of Village services
3d. Promote cooperation in cost savings with all public governments
4. MAINTAIN BEST PRACTICES TO ASSURE QUALITY LEVEL OF ESSENTIAL SERVICES

(a) Explore additional options to improve pavement integrity
