Thanks for Input on Village's Capital Improvement Program

April 24, 2017

Thank you to all of our residents and other interested parties who recently submitted suggestions for the Village’s 2018-2022 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The CIP is a financial and budgeting tool that identifies projects involving the installation, maintenance and improvement of the Village's infrastructure. Infrastructure consists of streets, storm water facilities, sanitary sewers, water mains, sidewalks, traffic signals, street lighting and Village buildings.

There were 81 responses received from the public for the CIP, with 24 or 30% interested in stormwater improvements. The next highest totals were for street (14) and bike/pedestrian (14) improvements. There were also 8 requests to improve local parks - these suggestions have been forwarded to the Arlington Heights Park District. The balance of the responses included suggestions for improvements to traffic lights at some intersections, water mains, brick pavers/sidewalks, as well as other ideas.

Village Staff is now developing the proposed 2018-2022 CIP for discussion at the Board’s June 27, 2017 Committee-of-the-Whole Meeting.
