May 31, 2012
The 2012 Street Resurfacing Program and Sidewalk Program, as well as teh Street Reconstruction Program are under way. The Arlington Heights Village Board awarded the contract for the project to Arrow Road Construction in the amount of $3.3 million.
Residents living on the streets affected by these programs will be sent a notice prior to the start of the work. Information will also include explanations of the work being done and other important notices for homeowners regarding this construction process.
Streets selected for resurfacing will have work done that includes intermittent curb removal and replacement, intermittent sidewalk removal and replacement, asphalt pavement removal, and asphalt pavement replacement. This is a maintenance program intended to extend the life of the street by replacing the top 2 or 3 inches of asphalt. Several concrete streets will also have intermittent concrete panel replacement.
Streets selected for reconstruction are roadways that are at a stage of deterioration where the curb and gutter is no longer functioning properly, there is failure of the street's subbase and the main part of the street is in poor condition. Streets listed for this program will have the entire street removed down to the subgrade, including curb and gutter. The curb and gutter is installed and the new street is replaced with the full depth of asphalt.
