Keep Parade Parkways Clear Until 7 p.m., July 3

June 28, 2012

Fourth of July parade-goers are requested to refrain from “reserving” space along the parkways aligning the Fourth of July parade route until 7 p.m., July 3, the night before the parade.

The past practice of reserving a space along the parade route days ahead time, by using blankets, tarps, chairs, etc. to ensure a good viewing spot, can cause damage to grass, impede pedestrians, and are problematic for homeowners along the route who may need to water their parkways, mow their lawns, or place their refuse and recycling at the curb for pick-up.

The Parade starts at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 4, from Dunton Avenue and Oakton Street, travels south on Dunton Avenue to Miner Street and then travels east on Miner Street to Recreation Park, 500 E. Miner Street. The Parade and annual Frontier Days Festival is planned by a volunteer group of over 500 citizens.

The Village asks parade-goers to “Celebrate the Fourth on the Fourth” and to be courteous by refraining from reserving a space on the parkways until 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 3. Come on the morning of the Parade to enjoy one of the largest and best parades in the Northwest suburbs.
