2:1 Collection Program for Leaves Begins October 30
Posted on 10/20/2017

The fall season is here and that means falling leaves. Starting October 30, as part of the Village’s Landscape Waste program residents need to only place 1 sticker for every 2 bags of leaves set out for collection through December 15. There are many local stores that sell the $2.65 landscape waste sticker as well as Village Hall and the Arlington Heights Senior Center.

For residents who subscribed to the Landscape Waste Subscription Program, ten (10) unstickered bags/bundles can be placed at the curbside for collection per week from October 16 - December 15. As a reminder, food scraps are not permitted with the base subscription program.

For leaves that naturally fall onto the streets, the Public Works Department’s Street Sweeping Program is designed to remove leaves that have fallen on the street. The purpose of the program is to keep drainage inlets clear for storm events and also reduce the amount of organic material in our sewer systems.

Residents are reminded that the Street Sweeping program is not a leaf-collection program and should not be considered one.

The Public Works Department has four sweepers that cover 18 zones throughout the village. During the months of October through December our sweeper operators will sweep each zone 3 to 4 times. Weather and the amount of leaves in a particular zone may have an impact on those numbers.

Crews work Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 pm and may work additional hours as needed during heavier leaf drop times.

Please do not rake your leaves from private or public property into the street. Also, remember to be a good neighbor and remove any leaves that you or your landscaper may have deposited into the street. Through the cooperation of everyone, the Village will have cleaner and safer roadways!
