Teens Needed for Snow Shoveling Program
Posted on 12/13/2017

The "Let it Snow, Make it Go" Teen Snow Shoveling Referral Program is ready for snow!  This Intergenerational (teens, seniors and adults with disabilities) Snow Shoveling Referral Program is a really simple concept.   Upon request, the Arlington Heights Senior Center will provide a list of teenagers who have signed up to shovel snow for Arlington Heights residents, age 60 and over or Arlington Heights residents who have a disability.  The resident will then contact the teen and make all arrangements with the teen to have their snow shoveled.

Please fill out the snow shoveling referral form if you are interested in receiving a list of people willing to shovel snow when its needed. You can also contact the Senior Center at the phone number or address below if you would like to participate.

The teen “snow shoveler” and the resident work out all details as to: the areas to be shoveled, the time to be shoveled, the cost of job and the payment arrangements.  The program is voluntary and not intended to be the resident’s only option for snow shoveling.   The cost of the job is up to the resident and the teen.   The suggested range is $10.00 to $15.00 per hour.  Teen Application for Snow Shoveling.

This program was initiated by the Arlington Heights Youth Commission, endorsed by the Arlington Heights Senior Citizens Commission and the Arlington Heights Commission for Citizens with Disabilities.

The Village does not do background checks on any of the participants, teens or seniors citizens or persons with disabilities.  Both parties should do their own interview and/or reference check if desired, before signing on with a particular client or teen.

Referrals for teens, senior citizens and persons with disabilities will come through the Arlington Heights Senior Center; 1801 W. Central Road, Arlington Heights, IL  60005; Phone: 847-253-5532. The Senior Center’s Hours are: Mondays & Wednesdays-8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays-8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays- 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
