In order for an application for a Window Replacement permit to be reviewed, it must include all required information. An application without complete information, including all required plans, may not be processed until the submittal is complete.  Whether you are building new, or repairing, restoring or refinishing your commercial property, the work and goal can be a rewarding experience and we want to help make it as easy as possible! Permit Submittal Requirements 

  • Building Permit
  • Contractor's License.  All contractors, excluding homeowner, must be licensed in the Village of Arlington Heights prior to release of permit
  • Homeowner as General Contractor, if applicable
  • Two copies of your Contractor's proposal
  • Two copies of manufacturer's catalog cut sheets showing that the windows carry the US Department of Energy's Energy Star Rating and a minimum of insulated glass with low E coating

Permit Submittal Information

  • Same day permit is $11 per one thousand of the value of work and due at time of submittal
  • Final inspection from the exterior of the property required.  Manufacturer's stickers must be in window for final inspection

Code Requirements 
All windows for new projects and replacement windows in existing buildings are subject to the provisions of Regulations and Standards for Energy Conservation and Sound Control Measures in Chapter 23 of the Arlington Heights Municipal Code. Table 402.1.1 Insulation and Fenestration Requirements by Component Fenestration U-Factor – 0.32 and shall carry the US Department of Energy’s Energy Star Rating. Skylight U-Factor – 0.55 Section 23-704.  One- and Two-Family Dwellings Exterior windows shall be a minimum of insulated glass with low E coating and shall carry the US Department of Energy’s Energy Star Rating.
