Our Strategic Priorities for FY 2017

These priorities and sub-priorities reflect the views of the Village Board identified at the April 5, 2017 Village Board goal setting session.

Continue infrastructure improvement efforts

  1. Develop plan and begin implementation of enhanced flood control improvements
  2. Continue progress on enhanced water/road program

Strengthen Downtown area to enable continued success in the future, given evolving market & demographics of our community 

  1. Examine ways to facilitate greater Entertainment/Restaurant emphasis
  2. Examine whether Zoning Ordinance and other codes should be updated to facilitate desired uses in the Downtown
  3. Encourage Development of Block 425
  4. Evaluate Downtown Ice Rink, other “destination” activities and events

Staffing & financial planning

  1. Embrace succession planning as a philosophy in each department
  2. Ensure that staffing levels and department structures are optimized

Strengthen communication & relationship with the business community

  1. Identify ways to improve business processes to increase customer service and efficiency
  2. Work closely with Chamber of Commerce through the Small Business Program to help identify business community perspectives and needs

Strengthen commercial corridor competitiveness

  1. Evaluate prudent physical corridor improvements for Rand Road, Southtown/Southern Hotel District, and other corridors
  2. Work towards implementation of TIF 4 and TIF 5 redevelopment goals
  3. Examine whether commercial corridor zoning should be updated.

Evaluate new ways for the Village to stay informed and involved in the legislative process and its impact

  1. Explore new programs such as a dedicated lobbyist and/or greater involvement with regional organizations.


Salaries & Benefits

The Village of Arlington Heights "Employee Total Compensation Package" provides the salary and benefit information for all village employees whose total compensation package is in excess of $75,000 a year.  The Total Compensation Package for 2018 is available in PDF format.  Total Compensation Package, or TCP, means payment by the employer to the employee for salary, health insurance (employee's portion included), a housing allowance, a vehicle allowance, a clothing allowance, bonuses, loans, vacation days granted and sick days granted.

Village Budget & Financials

The Village of Arlington Heights operates under the Budget Officer Act as outlined in the Illinois Compiled Statutes. Under this law the Village Board is required to adopt the budget prior to the beginning of the fiscal year to which it applies.
