Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony, May 28
Posted on 04/10/2018

Everything turns red, white and blue when Arlington Heights shows its thanks for the service provided by our Military, Veterans and Fallen Heroes during the 99th annual Arlington Heights Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony that will be begin at 9:30 a.m. on Memorial Day, May 28th! The parade is organized by the Veterans Memorial Committee.

A ceremony will be held in Memorial Park following the parade to honor and remember all Veterans and Fallen Heroes who bravely served our nation. The parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. at Sigwalt and Arlington Heights Road in front of the Village Hall. From there, the parade travels west to Dunton and then north on Dunton to Euclid, where the parade goes west to Chestnut, south on Chestnut to Memorial Park. Click here for a map of the parade route.

The Grand Marshal for the Memorial Day Parade is Al Mampre, a WWII Army veteran who served as a medic in Easy Company, 506 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division from Normandy to the Victory in Europe. The Easy Company was featured on the HBO Series "Band of Brothers."

At the end of the parade, the Memorial Day Ceremony gives a tribute to those who have bravely served our nation. We especially honor Arlington Heights’ Fallen Heroes – the 58 young men from our hometown who died in the service of our Nation from the Civil War through Afghanistan.  A list of names of area veterans who have passed away in the preceding 12 months is also read.
