Citizen Police Academy

The Citizen Police Academy is a 10-week program held in a night class setting each Tuesday evening at the Arlington Heights Police Department. The academy provides hands-on experiences and practical insights into the everyday operations and specialized services provided by the Arlington Heights Police Department.

Police Academy Program

The Arlington Heights Citizen Police Academy is offered annually in spring and fall sessions.  The academy is limited to 25 students per class session and is offered free of cost.

The Academy includes classroom lessons, open discussions, multi-media presentations, live demonstrations and practical exercises in all facets of police work ranging from patrol operations and traffic law enforcement to criminal investigations, forensic sciences and crime prevention techniques.

It is the hope of the Arlington Heights Police Department that students graduating from the Citizens Police Academy will develop a clear understanding of police services, assist the department in community relations, and advocate in support of police sponsored activities and programs within Arlington Heights. The Academy accepts applications into the program and is provided free of charge to all residents and business leaders of Arlington Heights. CPA is coordinated by Officer Alexandra Ovington
