GIS & Maps

The Village of Arlington Heights is excited to bring to your fingertips the useful technology of GIS - - Geographic Information Systems. In 2017 the Village joined the GIS Consortium, an organization of Chicago-area communities unified by a common goal: to share resources, information, staffing, and technology so that municipalities can optimize the value of geographic information systems (GIS).

What Is GIS?
A geographic information system (GIS) lets us visualize, question, analyze, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. GIS connects a community database to a geographic location, which allows for the efficient management, analysis and visualization of community information.

How GIS Helps the Village and You
GIS is a key component of a number of Village operations because of its ability to visualize data and connect multiple data sources. For example, GIS can help the Village analyze data and prepare maps for the Capital Improvement Plan.  The Village and GIS Consortium have also integrated GIS into this website to make it available for resident and business use.
