Man Arrested, Charged for Crash into New Police Station

Sam O. Kerlin, 44, of Arlington Heights, was arrested Friday, November 17, after being released from a local hospital following a car crash into the new Arlington Heights Police Station on November 11

Kerlin was charged with several traffic offenses, including:

Speeding 35mph or more over the posted speed limit
Reckless Driving
Driving under the influence of drugs
Improper lane usage

Kerlin was processed and released on bond.  His initial court appearance is January 7, 2019 at 9 a.m., Room 103  at the Cook County Courthouse, Rolling Meadows, IL.

Sam KerlinKerlin’s 2015 VW GTI was traveling westbound on Sigwalt Street at a very high rate of speed when he lost control of his car between the fire and police stations.  Kerlin’s Volkswagen left the roadway and cartwheeled across the police station landscaping, slamming into the new facility.
