Press Release from the Arlington Heights Police Department

On Monday, January 31, 2022 at 7:25 p.m., Arlington Heights Police Department personnel responded to a call of shots fired inside a large multi-unit apartment building at 400 W. Rand Rd (Stonebridge Apartments). 

Numerous callers reported hearing several gunshots on the 4th floor of the apartment building. Responding police units located a single male victim in the lobby of the building with gunshot wounds to his leg and lower torso. Officers immediately initiated life-saving measures, including application of a tourniquet to the victim. The Arlington Heights Fire Department responded and assumed medical treatment. The victim was transported to a Level 1 Trauma Center for medical care. The victim remains in critical condition at the time of this release, 11:45 p.m. on January 31, 2022. 

Responding officers conducted a thorough search of the building and surrounding area for any additional victims or other involved persons of interest. Initial information strongly suggests the victim was specifically targeted and the incident remains isolated. Arlington Heights Police Department Detectives and Forensic Technicians responded to the scene and are actively working the investigation.  

The investigation remains on-going. No further information will be released at this time. Updates will be announced as information becomes available.
